Background: Focal cortical dysplasia (FCD) is known to be a major cause of intractable epilepsy.
We created a novel rat model of FCD by freeze lesioning during the late embryonic
stage and examined the relationship between extratemporal FCD and epileptogenesis
of temporal lobe seizures.
