Background: Recently, a few patient cases that were positive for the HLA-B*1502 allele have been
reported to exhibit cross-reactivity to AEDs, suggesting that the HLA-B*1502 allele
may contribute to the genetic susceptibility to the cross-reactivity of cutaneous
adverse reactions (cADRs) to AEDs. However, there is limited convincing evidence,
and this hypothesis is still controversial owing to the small sample sizes used in
previous studies. Thus, it is necessary to further explore the potential association
between the cross-reactivity of AEDs and the HLA-B*1502 allele.
